Kim Kardashian was the epitome of casual chic at the first anniversary party for Shoedazzle. She looked sexy and confident without trying too hard.

I love everything about this look especially how she dresses down a gorgeous leopard print blazer from Raquel Allegra. The blazer has a subtle leopard print design on it that makes it the perfect blazer to throw on for the day time. If you are looking for a more lightweight blazer for the spring, try a silk blazer. They evoke the look and style of a heavier blazer without feeling bulky.

Kim pairs her blazer with a comfortable shirt from LnA clothing. They are notorious for making easy, simple tops and leggings that you can wear with any look. Kim’s charcoal tee is the perfect fit for underneath a blazer.

Kim is also savvy enough to know that relaxed denim is still a huge trend for 2010. I like when the denim appears to have that relaxed, slightly worn look, but not when it is ripped and torn. It looks too messy. Make sure that the jeans are fitted as well so that the overall look is not sloppy.

To top of the look, Kim wore a stunning pair of Christian Louboutin pumps and a stack of bangles. Flawless!

Trend Watch: Denim Leggings

Denim leggings have taken over! Not only do these denim leggings echo the comfort of regular leggings, but they also look like your favorite pair of skinny jeans. Denim leggings made their appearance this fall, but are proving to be a spring and summer trend as well. Dress them up with wedge heels and an embellished tank or wear a belted tunic over them during the day.

I have searched far and wide for the perfect pair of denim leggings and the general consensus is that the winner is J Brand.

These denim leggings come in a variety of washes from the super dark to the hot new color, gray. They are just stretchy enough that they conform to fit your body, but don’t get baggy over time.

These are a must-have for any woman that loves comfort with the added appeal of looking put together! Once you buy your first pair, you will have a hard time wanting to wear anything else!

I am absolutely obsessed with Diane on Furstenberg’s latest collection for Spring 2010. The spring collection features rich vibrant colors and abstract prints. The designs encompass everything I am craving for spring fashion and then some! Tribal and abstract patterns are having their moment this spring and everyone can wear these trends. If you are hesitant to wear such a bold print, than try pairing a printed top with a neutral or black skirt.

Diane von Furstenberg is known for creating sexy, feminine designs that flatter a woman’s body. One of my favorite pieces in the spring collection is the Asti Strapless Silk dress. This dress features a stunning tribal pattern with an orange, red, and pink color palette. I love long, flowing dresses for the hot summer months. You can easily make the look work for night by pairing the dress with metallic wedge heels and tons of gold jewelry. Avoid necklaces with a strapless dress because the neckline really showcases your shoulders. I am also loving the look of adding bangles in different sizes to up the bohemian feel of this design.

Another one of my favorites is the Swann Silk Bubble dress. I love the deep green and blue color as well as the print. The ruffle skirt makes it the perfect flirty dress for going out at night. Pair this look with gladiator heels and you are ready for a night out!

Another fantastic dress for day or night is the Zora dress. This dress is so easy to wear despite the gypsy-esque pattern. The dress has a built it waist and the skirt drapes so it is flattering on most body types. The dress also features a gold metallic threading that makes the print really pop!

You can’t go wrong with any of Diane von Furstenberg’s latest designs. She has been on fire when it comes to defining what women want out of their fashion choices.

Gossip Girl is back from its hiatus and the fashion is better than ever! The trends we saw in the this week’s episode involve pulled back hair styles, sophisticated jewelry, and embellishments. The designers may be extravagantly expensive, but here are some ways to emulate your favorite Gossip Girl’s style!

One of my favorite looks in the episode is when Serena wore a gorgeous 3.1 Phillip Lim military coat with an ivory sweater dress and Camilla Skovgaard thigh-high boots. The look completely captured sexy New York street style. Serena finished off her look with a caramel-colored Carlos Falchi satchel and plaid tights. Love the look, but not the price?

Try French Connection’s Frill Necked Military coat and pair it with an ivory sweater dress for a casual, chic feel. A great way to dress up an ordinary outfit is to pair it with funky patterned or plaid tights. These Hue Plaid Pattern Sweater Tights look just like Serena’s and can be worn with almost anything!

Blair has a notoriously put together, refined style on the show. One of my favorite outfits of the episode consisted of a long black dress, a sequin jacket, and huge art deco-inspired earrings. To get a look like Blair’s you can wear any black dress that you have in your closet. Dress it up by pairing it with a black sequin blazer. This tuxedo jacket by Antik Batik is fabulous!

The focal point of her style is all about the accessories! She carried a gorgeous cream clutch and wore elaborate black and white enamel earrings. Jose & Maria Barrera carry similar styles that have the same overall effect. Over the top accessories help to dress up boring black!

The best part about fashion is that every look is open to interpretation. You can take inspiration from other people’s style or create a look that is all your own.

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards Fashion Watch

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards is the pinnacle of awards shows! It is the most glamorous and celebrated night in Hollywood. This year, the biggest surprise of the night was The Hurt Locker winning Best Picture! I thought that Avatar was a shoo-in for that award. Also, Katheryn Bigelow won for Best Director for The Hurt Locker. She was the first woman ever to receive that prestigious honor!

Oscar night is a chance for designers to showcase their most elaborate gowns on Hollywood’s finest actresses. This year did not disappoint! While there were a few dresses that were lacking, the majority of women really looked decadent and fabulous.

The big fashion trend of the night were the pale, muted pastel colored gowns. Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Demi Moore, and Anna Kendrick all worked this trend by wearing feminine dresses in soft colors that did not overwhelm. There were a few pops of color, but bold color was not the main trend of the night. Metallic dresses were a hit- especially Sandra Bullock in her gorgeous gold Marchesagown. She looked like an Oscar winner!

Another trend that I noticed was the abundance of actresses who wore their hair up and pulled back. There were so many up-dos! This marked a dramatic change from the soft, flowing waves that we have seen in the last few years. Fucshia lips also made a statement on the red carpet. I love the look of more substantial make-up especially when the colors of the dresses are muted.

I had quite a few best dressed nominees for the night. I am going to narrow it down to four gorgeous women. Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana, Miley Cyrus, and Vera Farmiga. My honorable mentions go to:Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Richie, Sandra Bullock, and Amanda Seyfried.

Demi Moore looked absolutely breathtaking in her tiered, blush colored Atelier Versace gown. The dress fit her perfectly and showcased her flawless figure. She looked sophisticated and sexy at the same time. Demi has certainly discovered the fountain of youth!

I know a lot of people will hate Zoe Saldana’s risky choice, but I thought she nailed it! Her Givenchy gown was a piece of art and the effect was pure drama on the red carpet. I loved the gorgeous, metallic bodice and the lilac color. The gown featured a beautiful ombre color palette as it deepened to a rich purple at the bottom. I think she was daring and deserves to be recognized for it.

Miley Cyrus surprised me because I thought she looked amazing and age appropriate! Her gown was a custom made champagne-colored silk and tulle strapless bustier bodice gown designed by Jenny Packham. Miley pulled it off and managed to look worlds better than some of her peers.

Vera Farmiga wore a fabulous bright berry Marchesa gown with ruffle detail around the bodice and through out the skirt. She looked like a movie star. The dress color and design was amazing and I was grateful to see some rich color on the red carpet.

My choices for worst dressed were Charlize Theron (in Dior) and Diane Kruger (in Chanel Haute Couture). I was so disappointed because these women are show-stoppingly beautiful and usually make all of the right fashion choices on the red carpet.

Charlize’s dress was a gorgeous purple color but the design was all wrong. The different colored floral bodice that emphasized her breasts just drew the attention away from her stunning face.

Diane’s dress looked like it didn’t fit her at all. The structure of the dress didn’t work for her figure. I love Chanel, but this dress was an example of what not to wear. It was a complete let down because she can honestly wear almost anything!

One thing is for sure, the 82nd Annual Academy Awards highlighted fashion’s most sought after trends on Hollywood’s most celebrated actresses!

Wear Fall’s Hottest Looks Now!

2010 Fashion Week for Fall 2010 left us with an insight as to which trends are going to be popular for the fall. For some of these trends cold weather is needed, but there are a few we can start wearing today!

1) Full Minis- Last season the tight, bandage mini skirts were all the rage, but this fall the full mini will rule! This look is softer and more accessible to all women. Diane von Furstenberg’s fall collection showcased a gorgeous metallic tiered mini that sat lower on the hips with a full voluminous skirt.

2) Statement Knits- The chunkier the knit, the better! The sweaters for the fall are soft and handcrafted to evoke a unique look. There will be patterns and different colors weaved together to create showstopping looks. The best part about this trend is that you can layer a chunky sweater over a spring dress to transition into the spring.

3) Ladylike Bags- Smaller, structured handbags will be popular when the fall rolls around. For now, feel free to wear out your big hobo bag for the spring! The trend is moving towards a smaller bag that has a top handle for carrying instead of a shoulder strap.

4) Leather Dresses- Leather dresses for the fall will be the complete opposite of the rocker-chic looks we have been seeing recently. These dresses are more demure and sophisticated. A lot of the runway shows were pairing turtlenecks underneath a leather dress. It’s the perfect little day dress!

5) Thigh-high Socks- These socks are definitely for the trendsetter. Just like leggings and tights, they emphasize the legs. Try textured socks in different colors to emulate your favorite girl from Gossip Girl! These socks are a great way to update your look for fall.

6) Touches of Fur- Fur or faux fur embellishments are going to be everywhere! Fur touches on jackets, sweaters, and boots is a great touch for embracing the cold fall weather!

The Top Nail Color Trends for 2010

2010 is proving to be one of the most eccentric years of fashion in recent history. Designers are relaxing and having fun with trends. Their creativity has filtered all the way down to what nail colors are hot for the year. Take a look at my picks for the top nail color trends for 2010:

1. Smokey, gray-based nudes- Nudes will be the most universal nail color of 2010. The gray-based nudes are more modern and give your look more sophistication. Particuliere by Chanel is my absolute favorite nail color for 2010. You can wear it with anything especially with the bright colored outfits of the spring and summer. It’s limited edition so get it before it’s gone!

2. Turquoise- This color will replace the mint green from the fall. Turquoise is a statement nail color, but its so much fun! It looks great on nails when you are pairing it with a neutral or black outfit. Try Nicole by OPI Global Beauty.

3. Metallic deep emerald green- Deep emerald green has replaced the midnight blue and eggplant colors that have been so popular in the past. It’s a glamorous color that changes colors when you are in different lighting. Try Lancome nail polish in Pop Petrol (only available overseas).

4. Peachy beige- Chanel is always the frontrunner in finding the cutting edge trends in fashion. Their nail colors for 2010 are fabulous! Peach with beige undertones is a pretty color that is soft enough for day time and dressy enough for night. This color is perfect for showing off a summer tan. Try Inattendu by Chanel.

5. Sequin Manicures- Chunks of glitter and sequins are making a huge appearance during Fashion Week. The best part about these nail colors is that every nail doesn’t have to be perfect. It actually works better when it is messy. The best example of this trend is Deborah Lippmann’s Marquee Moon nail color.

6. Lilac- Nothing makes me think of springtime more than the color lilac. It is such a divinely feminine color and it looks great on all skin types. Remember: women can get away with wearing any shade of purple this year! I love Lilacism by Essie.

7. Textured nails- Nail color has become another creative accessory for any fashionista. To take your nails to the next level try the textured nail trend. One of the hottest versions is the tortoiseshell look. The look can be created by mixing a variety of polishes, but looks especially great using CND’s Dark Rubyand Copper Shimmer lacquers.

8. Cherry Red- Red will always be in style. Most women love wearing red nails on occasion because it oozes glamour. In recent seasons we have seen a rise in everything from true red to vampy scarlet red nail color. This year, cherry red will make a huge comeback. Try OPI Cha-ching Cherry.

The Top Nail Color Trends for 2010

Fashion at The BAFTA Awards

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced its 2010 winners yesterday during a ceremony at London’s Royal Opera House.

The biggest victory of the night? Kathryn Bigelow’s movie, The Hurt Locker won her Best Director! She is the first woman to receive that particular award in the history of BAFTA. The surprise upset of the night was that The Hurt Locker also won for Best Film and beat out Avatar! I always enjoy it when awards show keep people on their toes with unexpected wins!

Although awards shows exist primarily to give movies and actors accolades, it is also a great excuse to examine who was the most fashionable on the red carpet.

My favorite red carpet looks of the night were worn by Kate Winslet, Carey Mulligan, and Anna Kendrick.

Kate Winslet won for best actress last year, but this year she attended the awards as a presenter. She didn’t let that stop her from looking jaw-droppingly sexy in a black Stella McCartney dress with lace cut-outs. Kate always looks classic and dresses for comfort as well as following her own individual style.

Carey Mulligan is proving to be a fresh, new talent that always looks unique on the red carpet. Her long, floral printed dress by Vionnet proved no different. She took a risk and she owned it. She was also awarded Best Actress for her role in An Education.

Anna Kendrick has worn some gorgeous gowns on the red carpet, but she always gives off the impression that the dresses are wearing her. I liked how she kept it simple and flirty in a short, canary yellow Pucci dress. She evoked pure glamour as well as keeping her look age appropriate.
