Wednesday MP3 Six Pack – Nov. 25 edition
Each Wednesday I’ll be bringing you six songs you need to go out and download now! Have a recommendation for the Tipping Glass community? Leave a comment and we might feature it in next week’s six pack! At the bottom of the post you can preview and buy songs courtesy of Amazon.
1. Dave Matthews Band – Time Bomb
Off their latest album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, this song is filled with strong emotions and powerful lyrics. What I love most about this song is how the emotion and energy of the track builds up until Dave breaks into an emotion-packed third verse and refrain. The song starts off very slow and mellow, but by the end of it you’re feet will be stomping to the beat and you can picture Dave (in all of his greatness) belting out the lyrics. I would love to see this song played live.
2. Girl Talk – Give Me a Beat
Girl Talk is the best work, work out and long car ride music. It’s amazing how easy it is to fall into a trance when listening to his amazing beats and mashups. This is one of my favorite songs off their album Feed the Animals. With Girl Talk it is much better to buy the whole album so you can listen to it seamlessly as each song transitions into the next.
3. Jimmy Eat World – Dizzy (Acoustic)
This song is, without a doubt, my favorite song ever written. From the first time I heard it, Dizzy perfectly captured the emotions of a relationship that we have all been in before. The lyrics are so beautifully written and you can picture the thoughts, feelings and emotions the character in the song is going through. The lyrics are slightly different in the recorded and acoustic version, and I prefer the way they are laid out in the acoustic version. Favorite line in the song is, “do you hear the conversation we talk around?” Download this NOW!
4. Linkin Park – WTH>You
Linkin Park’s first studio album, Hybrid Theory, was one of the best of the last decade. They followed that album up with a remix of the entire album called Reanimation. Of all the songs they remixed, this one is by far my favorite. It’s a high energy track and feature Aceyalone who in my opinion takes an already amazing track and adds a much needed dimension to it. His verse is by far the best in the song. From start to finish this track will keep your head banging and your heart pumping.
5. Red – Death of Me
Fresh off the recommendation of Tipping Glass reader Jon Parker, I downloaded the album Innocence and Instinct by Red. This album is easily one of the best albums of the year, and from start to finish is complete and flawless. One of my favorite songs on the album is “Death of Me” because of how intense it gets as the song comes to an end. Not to mention the chorus is absolutely amazing. Don’t just buy this song, but this whole album. You won’t be disappointed.
6. 30 Seconds to Mars – Kings & Queens
30 Seconds to Mars is finally back and with a kick-ass single titled “Kings & Queens”. The song reminds me a lot of “From Yesterday” because of the way front man Jared Leto vocally delivers it. While I don’t anticipate this being the top song on the album, 30STM definitely is building up great anticipation to the release of it (due out December 8th, I believe). They also have a great video that accompanies the song and really helps tell the story behind it.
