2010 Golden Globes Fashion Predictions

The Golden Globes is the first big awards show of the season and the red carpet sets the fashion trends for the year. With gorgeous actresses like Sandra Bullock, Emily Blunt, and January Jones attending, this year is going to be full-throttle Hollywood glamour!

Here are the top 10 trends I predict we will see on the red carpet tonight:

1) Romantic ruffles- Ruffles are everywhere for Spring 2010. I predict we will see pretty ruffle detail on some of the gowns this year.

2) Neutral and Pastel Colors- This year, feminine pastel and neutral colors will rule. Think blush pink, nude, and pale gray. These colors look the best with statement jewelry and standout makeup. Sandra Bullock has already capitalized on this trend by wearing a nude colored dress to The People’s Choice Awards.

3) Bright, bold colors- Just as neutral colors have made a huge comeback, bright colors will be huge on the red carpet. Bright pink, orange, and turquoise dresses and accents are on trend for this year. This look is not for the faint of heart, but it is daring and gorgeous! After all, we don’t want to just see boring black on the red carpet this season!

4)Abstract Prints- Prints are a great way to mix it up on the red carpet. Celebrities that go this route can be sure that their dress will be photographed! The only downside is that prints are taste-specific and not everyone will love every print.

5) Drapery-Drapery on the bodice of a gown is elegant and figure-flattering. This trend works on nearly everyone.

6) Metallic- Metallic dresses are still in vogue this year. I am predicting we see silver, gold, copper, and gunmetal metallics this year. Metallics are an easy way for a celebrity to gain the instant glamour factor. If the celebs aren’t wearing metallic dresses, their nails might be! Gold, silver, and bronze nails are the trend for 2010.

7)Peek-a-boo exposed flesh- This is a trend that works to jazz up a black dress. A dress with sheer parts to show off skin is both sexy and daring. Since the Golden Globes are more laid back than The Academy Awards, this is a great way to add more of a rock and roll feel to the red carpet.

8) Feathers- Feathers look the best as an embellishment on a gown. Feather detail will be everywhere from clutches to hair accessories.

9) Full Skirts- Full Skirts are glamourous and inspire a very vintage feeling. Young actresses will carry this trend perfectly especially in a gown where the bodice is fitted.

10) Long Sleeves- This trend looks the best when the rest of the dress shows some skin. The front neckline should be dramatic or the back of the dress should be low cut. Otherwise, this trend can look too severe.

The red carpet should be one of the most fashionable that we have seen in years!
