Internetz, Meet Bailey

BaileyBailey is my 10 month old Golden Retriever. My wife and I bought him last September from a golden retriever breeder in South Austin. What an interesting process that was.

We had decided in July we wanted to get a puppy, and were torn between a collie and a golden retriever. Ultimately, we decided on a golden because I had grown up with them and love the breed. We started mining through the classifieds looking for available puppies and called a few. One in particular really opened our eyes as to how careful you need to be when choosing a breeder. I don’t remember her name, but we had talked to the lady on the phone. Apryl (my wife) and I had put together a list of questions we wanted to ask the breeder, before we agreed to meet them and buy a pup. These weren’t that crazy of questions, we asked about the medical history of the parents, temperament, etc. She was put off by the types of questions we were asking and ultimately rushed off the phone and we never heard from her again.

Thank God we found Susan (the breeder we bought Bailey from). She was amazing to work with. Not only do we have the medical history of his family dating back 50 years, we know every possible thing imaginable about him! Susan is great at documenting the puppies each week, taking videos and showing pictures of the parents with the pups (Bailey is the red boy).

Bailey is easily the most loving and funniest dog I have ever been around. I really just meant for this post to be an introduction, and I’ll be sharing some of the best Bailey stories I have with you all soon. Stay tuned!
