My Life as a Country Song – History in the Making, Darius Rucker

This could be one of those memories, we want to hold on to, cling to, one we can’t forget. Baby, this could be our last first kiss, the door to forever, what if this was that moment, that chance worth taking. History in the making.

January 6, 2007. Two days prior I had been out on a dud of a date, and I was looking forward to a night of ice skating with friends. Someone new to the group showed up, and when I saw that he was alone, I included him in a current conversation.

Just over three years later, I’m married to that man. That ice skating trip began a series of historical moments which, at the time, I somehow knew were history in the making. At least I hoped. On January 27 we each had our last first kiss, and I’ll tell you what, it was a chance worth taking.

Since then I’ve had so many firsts and so many lasts with that man – Jason. And I can’t imagine creating that history with anyone else. It was so much different than the date I went on two days prior. That was also History in the Making, but all he is now is the guy I went out with two nights before I met my husband and who never ended up with a second date.

Every day is history in the making, and I look forward to the firsts and lasts to come.
