Tiger Woods Scandal

Recently David Letterman got up in front of his audience and announced his marital infidelity, making jokes about it.  Reports say that he greatly hurt his wife, but not much attention was given to the situation.  No one asked how many women it was, and no women came forward divulging details of their sordid affairs with Letterman.

Then it is revealed that Tiger Woods was not faithful to his wife, and the media goes crazy.  Woman after woman comes forward claiming to have had a piece of the action, and his reputation as an upstanding athlete who is devoted to his family is in shambles.

What is the difference?  No one expected David Letterman to be moral in the first place, but Tiger Woods they did.  Woods had the perfect life – model wife, two wonderful children, at the top of his game, his own clothing line, etc.  He had the perfect life, and we can’t stand perfection.  It makes us feel inferior, so we look for any opportunity to bring perfection down.  To bring that person down to our level.  Letterman?  He was never on the perfect level, so who cares.

Tiger would have been better off if he had never tried to live a moral life, at least as far as the media spotlight goes.  Rather than marrying Elin, he should have just gotten her pregnant, along with a few other women.  We would have left him alone then.

The man made a mistake!  Leave him alone for goodness sake!  His marriage is ruined.  His reputation is ruined, isn’t that enough?  Would you like it if your transgressions were not only laid out for all to see, but for them also to debate and dig deeper into your life?  I think not.  Treat the man with some respect.  Treat his wife and children with some respect.  It’s none of your business.
