Bills Fans are Classy (Part I)

Every week it seems I hear or read something about Buffalo Bills fans that make me laugh and cringe at the same time. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep this going throughout the season, although I may have to include Sabres fans in the mix.

Week 1 (Patriots over Bills, 25-24):

BillsFanGame Recap: The Bills hold the lead for the first 55 minutes of the game. While trying to hold on to a 5 point lead at the end of the game, Leodis McKelvin fumbles the kickoff, allowing the Patriots to come back to win the game. Had he downed the ball in the end zone, chances are the Bills would have run out the clock. Afterwards, McKelvin tells reporters he would do the same thing again if he had the chance. It was the third year in a row that the Bills blew a lead in the final 2 minutes of a game in a Monday Night Football game.

Why Bills Fans are Classy: McKelvin returns to Buffalo the day after the game to find his lawn vandalized. Spray painted was a picture of a penis, followed by “Learn how to take a knee. 25-24.”

My Reaction: It’s really wrong for a player to be victimized because of his play on the field at his home. However….it was pretty clever for a couple of teenagers.

Week 2 (Bills over Buccaneers, 33-20)

Game Recap: The Bills dominated on both sides of the ball against a really bad team. Safety Donte Witner returned an interception for a TD in the first quarter, which set the tone for a convincing Bills victory in their home opener.

Why Bills Fans are Classy: While celebrating the victory, Witner’s house was robbed. He came home to find $400,000 worth of jewelry missing.

My Reaction: What kind of man has $400k worth of jewelry and no security system? Priorities, Donte.

Week 3 (Saints over Bills, 27-7)

Game Recap: While the Bills defense held the record breaking, prolific Saints offense to 10 points for the first 50 minutes of the game, the Bills offense generated zero points for the game. Special Teams scored on a sweet fake FG. At this point, the Bills’ two starting defensive ends have as many touchdowns as their $16 million pair of wide receivers. Terrell Owens, who owned a streak of 185 consecutive games with a catch, came away empty.

Why Bills Fans are Classy: While walking out of the tunnel after the game, a fan threw a half empty box of popcorn at Terrell Owens, hitting him on the head.

My Reaction: That’s pretty funny, and well deserved. Learn to catch the ball, Terrell.
