Bills Fans are Classy (Part II)
Game Recap: One of the worst games in Buffalo history, the Bills managed 3 points against the worst defense in the NFL. The Bills committed 9 false start penalties at home. The Bills muffed a punt with 3 minutes left, while tied, that led to the Browns’ game winning FG. The Browns completed 2 passes, the entire game, and won.
Why Bills Fans are Classy: This is a three-parter:
1.) Our owner, Ralph Wilson, was inducted into the Hall of Fame this past summer. A ceremony was planned during halftime to present him with his Hall of Fame ring. At the last minute, the ceremony was cancelled. The fans were booing so much during the game, that he decided he didn’t want to face that kind of ridicule on the field. Nobody bothered to tell the media, or the fans, so everyone was left scratching their heads for the 20 minutes of silence in between halfs.
2.) A wood-carved statue of our most successful running back of all time, Thurman Thomas, was erected in front of the stadium and presented on Saturday. Sunday after the game, the 8 1/2 foot, 1500 pound statue disappeared from the parking lot, without a trace of evidence. On Wednesday, it was spotted…in Canada. A few fans finally sobered up and admitted to taking it in order to protect it, as they believed it had been left behind and was in danger of being damaged.
My Reaction:
1.) If your team is so bad that you can’t even accept a prestigious, life-time achievement award in a ceremony in front of the fans of your team, why does the coach still have his job?
2.) How do you smuggle an 8 1/2 foot tall, 1500 pound hunk of wood shaped like a football player over the boarder? I’d love to hear the story of this one.
