Week 12 NFL Preview Review
Each Monday, I will review the preview I made before the weekend’s games. I will own up to any bad predictions, and brag about my foresight, in hindsight.
Miami Dolphins (5-6) at Buffalo Bills (4-7)
What Happened: The game was tight for the first 56 minutes. Tied at 14, the Bills decided to attempt a 56 yard field goal instead of punting, a very drastic change from the previous regime. Rian Lindell hit it through the uprights, which was followed up by two more Bills touchdowns before the game ended.
My Prediction: For no reason, the Bills will win.
Foresight in Hindsight: I guess I couldn’t be wrong three weeks in a row! The Bills showed a lot of guts in this game, and were surprisingly aggressive in the final minutes while maintaining their lead. It was Perry Fewell’s first victory of his young career as interim head coach.
Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5) at Baltimore Ravens (6-5)
What Happened: Denis Dixon threw an interception in OT that lead to a Ravens winning FG.
My Prediction: The Steelers will gravely miss Ben and Troy in a close, tough game that will ultimately be won by
Foresight in Hindsight: Anyone who blames Denis Dixon’s overtime interception for the loss is an idiot. He’s a third string, emergency QB who led the Steelers to a lead late in the fourth quarter. He did his job. The defense, however, should be ashamed of themselves. How many times this season have they given up late leads in these games? It amazes me how much Polamalu stalking the backfield means to that defense. The Steelers have now dropped 3 in a row, and look like a shell of the dominating super bowl team from last year.
Chicago Bears (4-7) at Minnesota Vikings (10-1)
What Happened: Chicago tried as hard as they could to stop Adrian Peterson, and had success, holding him under 4 yards per carry. But unfortunately, there’s this 40-year-old quarterback that they forgot to game plan for. Oops.
My Prediction: Cutler sucks. Favre’s a monster. Vikings will be killing by halftime and win in a landslide.
Foresight in Hindsight: Cutler threw 2 interceptions. Farve threw 3 touchdowns and lead the Vikings to over 500 yards of offense. The Vikings were up 24-7 at the half, and won by 26 points. I was three-for-three on this one!
Kansas City Chiefs (3-8) at San Diego Chargers (8-3)
What Happened: The Chargers won this one easy. Rivers, Tomlinson, and Gates all had 2 touchdowns each, as they steamrolled the inept Chiefs.
My Prediction: The Chargers will continue their surge to the top of the AFC.
Foresight in Hindsight: Well that makes me 4-0 in my predictions so far. If the Saints can beat the Patriots tonight, I’m going to the track to bet on some horses.
Here’s my prediction of tonight’s game:
New England Patriots (7-3) at New Orleans Saints (10-0)
Game of the week right here. Just like the Patriots/Colts game a couple weeks ago, this one will be a shootout. It’ll come down to who’s defense makes one more stop than the other team, and I have to go with the Saints on that one. They have been takeaway machines this year. It was Sean Paytons unselfish act of giving up $250k of his own salary to hire Gregg Williams as his defensive coordinator that has turned this team around. The Patriots will keep it close, but the Saints will run away with this game in the 4th quarter.
